In 2019, the Nashua Wild and Scenic Rivers Act was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives and signed into law by the President, designating sections of the Nashua, Squannacook, and Nissitissit Rivers as Partnership Wild and Scenic Rivers.
The Nashua Rivers Wild & Scenic Stewardship Council was formed to protect our outstandingly remarkable resources-- biological diversity, scenic and recreational, and historical and cultural values. Representatives from 11 communities, the Nashua River Watershed Association (NRWA), and the National Park Service (NPS) participate on the Council. Monthly meetings are open to the public. For information on how to participate, email Wynne Treanor-Kvenvold at the NRWA, or email Emma Lord at NPS. View the Stewardship Plan. |
