2025 Adopt-a-River Season a Success

Sep 11, 2026

In the 2025 field season, with 65 volunteers and three group pulls, 247 acres of the Nashua River were protected from the spread of invasive water chestnut. The area covered included the river in the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge downstream to Ayer Ice House Dam, the Rt. 119 bridge in Groton downstream into Pepperell Pond, and the river upstream of Mine Falls Dam in Hollis and Nashua, NH. It is estimated that over 10,000 pounds of plant material was removed. Thank you to all of the volunteers who gave their time and efforts to make this project successful.
