Regional Invasive Species Management Along our Wild and Scenic Rivers

Non-native, invasive plant species have become one of the biggest threats to biodiversity in and along our three Wild & Scenic Rivers. Invasive plants spread aggressively outside their native range, where they lack natural predators or diseases that would otherwise keep their populations in balance.

In order to preserve biodiversity as an outstandingly remarkable resource value of our rivers, in accordance with the Stewardship Plan, the Stewardship Council has launched an initiative to support invasive species management across the eleven riverfront communities. The Council aims to provide resources, capacity, and funding to foster collaborative, regional partnerships to address invasive species across varying ownerships and property boundaries.

Regional Invasive Species Management Project Map

In order to better track invasive species management projects and support regional collaboration on future management efforts, the Stewardship Council has put together the following public web map using ArcGIS Online. Explore the map below to learn more about invasive species management efforts that are underway across the eleven participating Wild and Scenic communities -  and how you might be able to engage with these projects.

For more information on this initiative, email Marisa Browning-Kamins, Stewardship Coordinator, or call (978) 451-0513.
