The Town of Dunstable was incorporated on October 15, 1673, and its motto is “The Profit of the Field is for All”. Dunstable is governed by Town Meeting and 3 member Board of Selectmen. Dunstable is bordered by Pepperell to the west, Groton to the south, Tyngsborough to the east, and Nashua and Hollis, New Hampshire, to the north. It encompasses 17 square miles, has a population just under 3200 and has currently has 3,252 acres protected as open space in perpetuity. The majority of this rural community is zoned single family and farming. The Nashua River is the town line for approximately 2 miles along the northwestern boundary. The 11 + mile Nashua River Rail Trail to Ayer MA begins at the Dunstable MA /Nashua NH state line.
